DESCRIPTION:The Crowder College History Symposium presents\, award winning author\, Dr. Justin Gage! His lecture continues the speaker series March 7 at 6pm in the Wright Conference Center (601 Laclede Ave.\, Neosho\, MO 64850).\n\n\n\nJustin Gage is a historian of the American West who studies Native American mobility and anticolonial activism\, intertribal relationships\, and settler colonialism. He received his PhD from the University of Arkansas in 2015. Before returning to the University of Arkansas as an Assistant Professor in 2023\, Gage was an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Helsinki. Gage's first book\, We Do Not Want the Gates Closed between Us\, was awarded the 2021 Outstanding Western Book by the Center for the Study of the American West and the Beatrice Medicine Award from the Association for the Study of American Indian Literatures. His research has been funded by fellowships and grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities\, The Huntington Library\, the Western History Association\, Yale University's Beinecke Library\, and the American Philosophical Society.\n\n \nClick to view the full symposium schedule!\n\n\n\nCrowder College is sponsoring this program in partnership with the Missouri Humanities and with support from the Missouri Humanities Trust Fund.
