Position Summary
Direct all coffee shop operations including staffing, scheduling, hiring, training, performance management, inventory control, purchasing, budget monitoring, sales reporting, and customer service initiatives. Analyze operational performance and implement strategies to improve revenue, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and food service regulations.
Essential Job Duties- Craft Beverages: Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold coffee drinks, teas, and specialty beverages to exact recipes and standards.
- Customer Service: Welcome all campus guests promptly, take accurate orders, and process transactions via the POS system. Answer questions about the products sold for customer inquiries.
- Store Maintenance: Keep the coffee bar, seating areas, storage areas clean.
- Operations: Manage, schedule, oversee and train coffee shop staff. Complete paperwork for daily sales, oversee inventory, restock coffee shop products i.e. beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other items as needed and approved. Work with your supervisor on ads, specials and menu updates and changes
- Equipment Care: Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewers, reporting any malfunctions to the assistant director.
- Compliance: Adhere to all college and local health and food safety regulations
- Supervisory responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain coffee shop staff.
- Provide employee coaching, recognition and redirection, as appropriate.
- Develop staff training programs to ensure consistency in beverage preparation, customer service, and food safety.
- Monitor labor costs and create schedules that align staffing levels with coffee shop budget expectations.
- Foster a positive team culture that supports employee engagement, accountability, and professional development.
Planning and Development- Develop and implement marketing initiatives, promotions, loyalty programs, and special events to increase customer engagement.
- Evaluate menu performance and recommend product additions, pricing adjustments, and seasonal offerings.
- Collaborate with campus departments to support college events, meetings, and catering opportunities.
- Assess customer feedback and implement service improvements.
Operational Oversight- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for all coffee shop functions.
- Create beverage menu items and recipes for coffee shop sales.
- Find and maintain local relationships with bakery and specialty sales tradesmen.
- Review and maintain inventory levels.
- Order supplies for coffee shop operations, assess and locate the best sources for supplies based on delivery, quality and pricing.
- Ensure compliance with college policies, health department regulations, food safety standards, and risk management requirements.
- Monitor equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs or replacement recommendations.
- Review and provide monthly operational report information including sales performance, labor utilization, inventory metrics, and customer satisfaction indicators as needed.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute planning for growth and industry change
- Maintain required records, certifications, and documentation related to food service operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Previous management experience
- Customer service skills
- Cash Handling
- Previous barista experience preferred
- Convenience store and/or retail experience
Positions Supervised- Part time Baristas
- Work study staff
Working Environment- Kitchen type environment working with equipment for food, coffee and drink preparation, and office environment.
- Working hours are generally Monday-Friday 7a.m. to 4:30 p.m., adjustment of hours may be required for rush, buyback, graduation or other special events.

Physical Requirements- Access information via the Crowder College computer network.
- Physical work required to accomplish stocking, moving about to create coffee products, customer service, and lifting up to 70 pounds.
