A Day in Stars Hollow” Draws Over 7,500 Visitors to Downtown Neosho
NEOSHO, MO – November 10, 2025 — Downtown Neosho was bursting with small-town charm and Gilmore Girls inspired magic on Saturday, November 1st, as more than 7,500 visitors filled the historic district for the first-ever “A Day in Stars Hollow.”
The event was coordinated by the Downtown Neosho Merchants, with support from the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce, which provided the Experience Neosho app to host an interactive Stars Hollow Scavenger Hunt and created and printed themed maps to guide visitors through the day’s activities.
Guests were transported into the world inspired by Gilmore Girls as downtown businesses transformed their storefronts to resemble favorite spots from the show, including Luke’s Diner, Doose’s Market, Stars Hollow Books, and more. Themed photo spots were placed throughout downtown, and attendees enjoyed a nostalgic hayride, Gilmore Girls inspired trivia contests, a cozy book exchange, and an outdoor movie under the stars to close out the day.
Adding to the excitement, the Neosho Farmers Market hosted its annual Handmade Holiday Market that same day, featuring local artisans, handmade gifts, and festive treats that perfectly complemented the fall atmosphere. The combined events created a full day of shopping, dining, and community celebration.
According to Placer.ai visitation data, the Neosho Historic District recorded over 7,500 total visitors on November 1st, far surpassing typical Saturday averages and underscoring the strong economic and social impact of creative community collaborations
The Neosho Police Department provided aerial drone photos of the event, capturing stunning views of the crowds and the festive downtown atmosphere.
“The energy downtown was absolutely incredible,” said Lauri Lyerla, CEO of the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce. “This event showcased what can happen when local merchants work together to bring an imaginative idea to life. We were thrilled to enhance the experience with the app and maps and to see families, friends, and visitors from across the region enjoying our beautiful downtown.”
Downtown businesses reported record traffic and sales throughout the day, with many first-time visitors discovering Neosho for the first time.
Due to the overwhelming success and enthusiastic feedback, organizers have already announced the return of the event — next year’s “A Day in Stars Hollow” will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
“It felt like stepping straight into the show,” said one downtown merchant. “Between the storefront transformations, the activities, and the crowds of smiling faces, it truly captured that Stars Hollow magic — right here in Neosho.”
